SAFW SS15
This year was my first year to head off to South African Fashion Week in the vibrant city of Johannesburg. Of course, with my huge love of clothing, I automatically enjoyed every moment of it. I was lucky to watch the show of Sies!Isabelle, Ilan (featuring the ever so lovely Steve Madden shoes) and Michelle Ludek. All designers showed inspiring designs, adjusted to their own feel. My favorite of the three was Ilan. I definitely loved the flowing skirts, beautiful fabrics and without a doubt the Steve Madden shoes (although can we all admit that his shoes are amazing?). Walking out of the show hall, I felt inspired as every outfit that my eyes fell upon showed originality and confidence. After a few photographs and chats, I walked out the building filled with joy. One can say with certainty that I will be returning to SAFW. One last VERY IMPORTANT detail, I made my outfit that I wore to SAFW, it comprised of a box tee and shorts, both in black. Here are a few photographs which captured moments in my evening (featuring Rimmel London, Edgars and Ilan):

A brief outline of Fashion Week (all round)
From high fashion to low ponies, all four fashion weeks were definitely something to remember. Let me start off at the beginning, a very good place to start. New York Fashion Week, quite the dream. My favorite designer was definitely Michael Kors, I fell in love with his designs instantly. A few words which came to my mind when I thought of his show would be strappy, flowers, and flow. His collection opened with white and closed with black, utterly classic in my opinion. As much as I enjoyed many of the shows of New York Fashion Week, there were a few, one in particular, that threw me off. This one being Betsey Johnson. I am not sure as to whether I enjoyed the collection or not, very different. Next stop, London. Described as the more playful and eccentric fashion week with innovation and inspiration, London Fashion Week is definitely not one to be missed. My favorite collection is Topshop Unique. The originality is not hard to relate to. It is the show that every model wants to walk an every fashion inspired human wants to witness. With Anna Wintour sitting front row and Cara Delevingne opening and closing the collection, this show was what one would call a 'show stopper'. Moschino. Moschino. Moschino. Moschino in Milano, what fun. Who doesn't want to be a Barbie Girl for one day? They really played with some interesting ideas in that collection, in other words they truly had some fun. Next comes Fendi and once again, not that this is uncommon, Cara Delevingne featured, the model who is taking the world by storm. Fendi shows architectural beauty and a timeless modern collection.
Last but not least, Paris. The city of love. Valentino was by far my favorite collection. With hand painted designs and Greek style shoes, I would kill to wear those outfits straight off the runway. The patterns and designs are breathtaking, this collection is definitely something to keep your eye on. The famous Elie Saab. This year, the collection showed less lace and more glitter. The collection did keep to the ever famous long flowing dresses, however, those that were looking forward to the lace might have been disappointed, I for one was not. Chanel, however, who I will remain loyal to forever, I have no words for. How does one describe that collection. Halt. Describing the collection may be the easy part but describing the ending is definitely hard. There is no predictable happy ending to this love story. I do believe that everyone was in utter shock and awe.
Overall, the Fashion Weeks have yet to disappoint. It is inspiring to see another season of fashion come, but not yet go. This season is one of my best. I look forward to seeing the outfits on the Red Carpet and on many walking down the street. But keep your eyes peeled fashion lovers, South Africa Fashion Week is just around the corner, precisely 13 days to go and counting.
Always remember, that to write about something that you love is to write about something so simple. Stay close everybody, I am feeling inspired.
